Also this year, recognition was given to the new Ford Kuga, which collected the category award for "best 4x4 crossover" vehicle.

The award was given by President of the ASMW, Bill Caven, who commented: "To win the Scottish Car of the Year once is a marvellous achievement for any manufacturer. However to triumph again the following year is absolutely unbelievable.

On receiving the award, Ian Slater, Vice-President Communications and Public Affairs for Ford of Europe, said: "We are delighted the new Ford Fiesta has been voted the 2008 Scottish Car of the Year. Tata's Nano and Singur

Tata Motors, the creators of the world's cheapest car “Nano“, has reached an agreement with protestors at its factory in Singur, West Bengal.

The plant in Singur is 90 % complete but demonstrators had stopped construction to protest what they describe as the forced eviction of local farmers.

West Bengal state's opposition Trinamool Congress party, which has been spearheading opposition to the plant, says it has reached a deal with the state government that would see some of the land for the nearly-complete factory returned to displaced farmers.

Other farmers will receive compensation.

Tata Group, hoping to launch the two and a half thousand US dollar 'Nano' next month, warned last week the plant would be moved out of West Bengal if the demonstrations continued.

About Axle

An axle is a central shaft for a rotating wheel or gear. In some cases, the axle may be fixed in position with a bearing or bushing to allow the wheel or gear to rotate around the axle. In other cases the wheel or gear may be fixed to the axle, with bearings or bushings provided at the mounting points where the axle is supported. Sometimes, especially in the cases of bicycles, the latter type is referred to as a spindle.

Axles are an integral structural component of a wheeled vehicle. The axles are used to maintain the position of the wheels relative to each other and to the vehicle body. As we know that in the maximum number of vehicles the wheels are the only part touching the ground, the axles must bear the weight of the vehicle plus any cargo, as well as acceleration and braking forces.

About Automotive Fuel Injection Parts

Automotive Fuel Injection System is a system used to mix fuel with air in an internal combustion engine. Now the fuel injection system has become the primary system used in automotive engines, having almost completely replaced carburetors.
A fuel injection system is designed according to fuel it will handle: gasoline (petrol), Autogas (LPG, also known as propane), ethanol, methanol, methane (natural gas), hydrogen or diesel. The majority of fuel injection systems are for gasoline or diesel applications.

Difference between Carburetors and Fuel Injection

The main difference between carburetors and fuel injection is that fuel injection atomizes the fuel by forcibly pumping it through a small nozzle under high pressure, on the other hand, a carburetor relies on low pressure created by intake air rushing through it to add the fuel to the airstream.

Benefits of Fuel Injection System
  • Easy Engine starting.
  • Increased fuel efficiency.
  • Increased maintenance intervals.
  • Better operation at extremely high or low ambient temperatures.
  • The driver of a fuel-injected car include smoother and more dependable engine response during quick throttle transitions.
  • Fuel injection does away with the choke which on carburetor-equipped vehicles must be operated when starting the engine from cold and then adjusted as the engine warms up.

European Commission on Jaguar and Land Rover

The European Commission said on Saturday that it would rule on Tata Motors' takeover of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford by the end of April after the Indian company notified the deal to Europe's top antitrust watchdog.

Tata said in the notification that the deal did not represent a "significant impediment to effective competition" because the companies' "combined market shares are small.

"
Tata Motor's said on Wednesday it was buying the two British luxury icons Jaguar and Land Rover from ailing US carmaker Ford for 2.3 billion dollars (1.5 billion euros), vaulting the Indian company into the premium global car market.

The cash purchase, part of plans by India's top vehicle maker to expand its reach beyond Asia, capped months of talks with Ford Motor Co, which is selling the prestige brands to focus on turning around its North American operations after losing 15.3 billion dollars over the past two years.

Craze of Alloy Wheels in Auto Industry

Alloy wheels helps in low fuel consumption because of its lighter nature as compare to steel wheels. Its unsprung weight reduces the direct torque requirement which is more effective compared to the reduction in static pay load of the car.

One can get better brake cooling with aluminum as it is a good conductor of heat which helps in dissipating heat faster compared to steel wheels, leading to faster cooling of brakes and longer tyre life.

Alloy wheels are rust free and corrosion resistant which offers better looks and durability for a longer time period.

Alloy wheels are wider in size that provide wider base and increased road contact to the tyre for better grip and handling.

Alloy wheels are 100% leak proof and can be used with standard, radial or tubeless tyres.
